Marietta Market Committee has expanded since this photo of original marketeers!

Here is a list of Marietta Market’s current committee members – based on their roles, this list can help you determine who to contact for specific market-related questions:

Katie Martin – Chair – Collects agenda items; facilitates meetings; delegates tasks; works directly with the Market Manager to attend events and increase involvement and connection with other community organizations

Lauren Hertz Burnett – Vendor Recruiter – Makes initial contacts with new / potential vendors; works with Market Manager to assist with vendor needs and communication; has knowledge of the vendor agreement and Dept of Ag regulations (Lauren can be reached at 717-875-9212)

Lauren Thomas – Secretary – Takes minutes at all meetings; works with other departments to assist in creating necessary forms, brochures, etc.; maintains mailing lists

Nate Willing  – Business Managers – Handle both treasury and essential aspects of keeping the Market legal, including insurance, bathroom facilities, and Department of Agriculture requirements; represent the Market as needed at Borough meetings; maintain the Market’s budget; provide gain/loss reports at committee meetings

Claire Taylor – Outreach Coordinator – Handles public relations and maintains relationships with local businesses; works with the Market Manager on advertising and press; maintains Facebook and website pages; organizes outreach events (e.g., Market presence on Marietta Day); keeps public information up-to-date

Holly Willing – Events Coordinator – Coordinates events at Market throughout the season; works directly with Outreach, Market Manager, volunteers, and public to plan activities and promote special Market events

JOB DESCRIPTION
• Coordinates all tasks throughout the season, with particular focus on vendor issues
• Candidate must have strong organizational and communication skills
• Responsible for set-up, maintenance, and tear-down on all Market days; if unable to attend a Market day, it will be the Manager’s responsibility to arrange for a substitute from within the Market Committee, and ensure a seamless and well-coordinated transition
• Checks in weekly with current vendors to establish and maintain clear communication between the Market Committee and vendors
• Collects all fees from vendors and keeps up-to-date records of fees paid and owed; updates Business Managers weekly of all transactions
• Responsible for communicating with vendors who violate the Vendor Agreement
• Communicates weekly with the Outreach Coordinator to update Facebook and the Market website regarding vendor products and attendance
• Works closely with the Events Coordinator to be fully aware of upcoming events and communicate them to vendors and shoppers via word-of-mouth and posting on the Market bulletin and chalk boards
• Communicates directly with the Business Managers if any business or Borough matters occur during Market hours
• Attends all Market Committee, vendor, and volunteer meetings
• Presents a full report at each Committee Meeting, covering Market activities, needs, and concerns
• Works with the Vendor Recruiter to organize applications, Department of Agriculture certifications, scheduling, and contact information
• Maintains a contact list of all vendor information and provides updates to the Market Committee via hard copy and the Market Gmail account
• Create and maintain a phone tree of vendors, volunteers, and Committee members at the beginning of the season, to be utilized in the event of Market cancellation
• Responsible for making the final decision on whether Market will be canceled due to dangerous weather
• Responsible for timely updating of Facebook and the Market website in the event of cancellation
• Point person for all Market suggestions and complaints
• Develop and maintain a system of recording daily Market flow, health of financial transactions, and vendor attendance

A staple at the Marietta Market, GUITARS, and we'll have lots of them on Sunday, October 16, our final market day of 2011.

That’s right friends, neighbors and lovely tourists. The Sunday, October 16 is our final day for the second season of 2011.  And we intend to go out with a twang. Guitars that is. And vocal chords. And more.

Get your last batch of homegrown goods, baked goodies and sing along with us while you’re at it.

It’s been a joy serving you this past year and we look forward to another.

We’re pleased to offer a donation based Yoga Class following market on Sunday July 31st and Aug 28th. Come out, listen to live music, and support your local farmers, before doing some Downward Dog under the trees of our lovely park.
